The History of the Company
The Slattery Company was established in 1925 by John Bernard Slattery , a local Shreveport attorney/businessman and his sons Joseph E. Slattery and John F. Slattery. The original stockholders consisted of John B. Slattery, Joseph E. Slattery, John F. Slattery (President), Bulow W. Marston (Vice President), and Robert O. Roy (Secretary-Treasurer). It was started as a land management company and remains a family-owned and family-run business today.
That same year, the Slattery Building was completed in downtown Shreveport. This building was (at 17 stories) the tallest privately owned commercial building west of the Mississippi at the time of its completion and has since become a historic landmark in the city of Shreveport. Even though the Slattery Company no longer owns this building, the legacy of its construction and heritage remains.
Today the company continues to manage property in and around Shreveport, Louisiana.
